This presentation features, Eirik, a long-time avalanche professional, scientist, and ski guide and is the manager of our Yukon-based office in Whitehorse, YT. Originally from Norway, he grew up backcountry skiing and has been working in the snow for 17 years as a snow science researcher, avalanche forecaster, and ski guide. He has an M.Sc. in avalanche mapping and is a research associate in Simon Fraser University’s Avalanche Research Program. Eirik is currently the President of the Canadian Avalanche Association.
In the video Eirik presents using drones to model snow pack distribution. It is a innovative approach to gather and analyze snow pack which has potential in an operational context.
