Project Description
US State Highway 2 is a high elevation route that travels though Stevens Pass, the location of the most deadly avalanche accident in North America in 1910. It is a key corridor for east-west traffic in Washington state, and there is pressure to keep the road open as much as possible. The existing program utilizes an older US military tank with a Howitzer artillery cannon.
Considering the pressure to phase out military ordinance in the US, WDOT retained Alpine Solution to review the current program and make recommendations for additional RACS systems.
